SurfKoat Enhancer-Shield
It's hard to find the words to say how much we like this product! When ES was first released, I have to admit we were skeptical, but after watching it perform year after year... we're definately believers now.
After several years, we know there are now other similar products on the market (some from other brands we represent) but after testing them head-to-head, we keep coming to the conclusion that they just can't out-perform the original. Even on "impossible to seal" surfaces like marble and granite, ES goes on easy and provides awesome protection.
We always try to tell customers to think of the color enhancement as a really cool side-effect. Protection is this product's real strength!
Be sure to choose the version of Enhancer Shield that best fits you needs and jobsite requirements. Both versions produce excellent enhancement and offer great protection. The water-based version is perfect for indoor projects or situations where flammability or odor will be an issue. The solvent-based version penetrates quickly and in SOME cases may be used on surfaces where reactive water-repellents or solvent-based sealers may have been previously applied. ALWAYS CHECK FOR COMPATIBILITY BEFORE APPLYING ANY SEALER, ESPECIALLY OVER ANY PREVIOUS PRODUCT! Do not use the WB version over acetone dyes. Only the SB version should be used on acetone-dyed concrete. The SB version also seems to perform best on man-made materials like manufactured stone and some pavers containing higher levels of resins, polymers or other additives. Of course you should ALWAYS do a test area first to ensure the best compatibility with your specific substrate and desired results.
Cleaning and Preparation Instructions
3. Allow area to dry completely.
Application Instructions
1. Before applying Enhancer Shield, mask off all areas that you do not want product applied to.
2. Blend Enhancer Shield thoroughly before using. DO NOT DILUTE.
4. Make sure all sprinklers are turned off for a 24 hour period of time. Apply Enhancer Shield only if rain is not expected for at least 24 hours. Do not apply Enhancer Shield if surface temperature is below 40° F., or above 80° F.
5. Allow surface to dry for a minimum of 8 hours before foot traffic and 72 hours before vehicle traffic.
Note: Always test a small area for compatibility before proceeding. Not recommended for use on any surface that has been previously sealed. Do not allow to freeze. Recommended shelf life is one year.
OVER APPLICATION - Every effort should be made to avoid over-application or leaving puddles of un-absorbed product to dry on the surface... But we know it can happen. If over application occurs, it should always be addressed as soon as possible.
Water-Based Version - Excess dried product can often be removed by applying mineral spirits. Allow mineral spirits to dwell on the surface until material is softened, then remove by wiping, scrubbing or pressure washing. Always test in an inconspicuous area before proceeding! Applying solvent may damage some surfaces and will affect appearance and performance of sealed surfaces.
Solvent-Based Version - Over-application is often easier to address with the SB version since it will re-emulsify with solvent. Melt excess dried product, by applying acetone, xylene or A-100 solvent. Allow solvent to dwell on the surface until material is softened, then remove by brushing and/or wiping. In many cases, simply re-emulsifying the product and working it into the surface with a brush is all thet is required. Always test in an inconspicuous area before proceeding! Applying solvent may damage some surfaces and will affect appearance and performance of sealed surfaces.
WARNING: Follow the solvent manufacturer's instructions and the Safety Data Sheet for exposure limitations and safe handling practices. Acetone, Xylene, A-100 and Mineral Spirits are HIGHLY FLAMMABLE! Do not smoke! Turn off all portable heaters and gas pilot lights. Extinguish all open flames prior to use! Avoid sparks! Only use solvent-resistant plastic brushes for scrubbing!
Of course, having the right tools will make your job easier, so scroll to the bottom to see our recommended Sprayers, Brushes and Application Tools!

Maintenance
Like all things, maintaining optimal protection of a sealed surface requires scheduled maintenance. Once properly applied, surfaces sealed with Enhancer Shield may periodically require a light cleaning to remove dirt, dust, mud, etc. In most cases, low pressure water is all that is needed for routine cleaning. Do not use a hot-water pressure washer unless you are preparing to apply a maintenance coat of Enhancer Shield. Re-apply Enhancer Shield once surface no longer beads water. Depending on wear and tear, sealed surfaces typically need a maintenance coat every 3-4 years on horizontal surfaces and every 4-5 years on vertical surfaces like walls.
